(Moi ici: Recordar "Estratégia a sério na agricultura, ou make my day!")
...
(Moi ici: Recordar "Breakaway brands")
"The notion of cocreating value refers to assisting customers in co-constructing and engaging in superior experiences. Each value network partner brings their own unique resource access and accommodation into that process
...
When customers are viewed as an integral part of value creation, the role of the firm becomes that of a facilitator, supporter, and co-constructor of value rather than a supplier of value
...
In turn, the strategic focus of the firm shifts toward understanding how it can better assist individual customers to get more out of its direct service activities and/or service platforms so that their daily routines, processes, and experiences are improved in a meaningful way
...
Overall, firms prioritize valuable interaction experiences and outcomes of reciprocal resource integration efforts, rather than focusing on products per se, thereby forming the basis for successful future strategies.
...
From an S-D logic perspective, strategy is about making choices about how best to facilitate and enhance value cocreation with network partners such as customers for mutual and long-term betterment."

Sushi restaurants were far more likely to mislabel their fish than grocery stores or other restaurants."
"The key to the strategy mindset is to view business life as not entirely random; stochastic but not random. While it may be absolutely necessary to revisit and revise choices more often than convenient, the assumption holds that effortful, determined, revisable strategy is better than simply letting happen whatever will happen.
.
By far the easiest thing to do is to see the future as so unpredictable and uncertain that you should keep all your options open and avoid choice-making entirely. The irony, of course, is that not choosing is every bit as much a choice, and every bit as impactful, as choosing to choose."
"‘It’s so damn complex. If you ever think you have the solution to this, you’re wrong and you’re dangerous.’"Mas por outro, sei que temos de fazer algo e não esperar que aconteça o que tem de acontecer.
“The world can only be grasped by action, not by contemplation.”Em acções de formação sobre a formulação de estratégias costumo forçar e reforçar este ponto: só somos humanos!!!
"In strategy, helpful practice means setting out your logic about a choice in advance (Moi ici: Um mapa da estratégia e um conjunto de iniciativas, de projectos de transformação) — e.g., I think consumers will react in this way, competitors will react that way, we will be able to deliver this and we achieve this outcome (Moi ici: Ainda ontem, durante uma apresentação foquei este ponto; as iniciativas são projectos e os projectos são actividades que acabam, que se fazem e ponto. Contudo, o nosso propósito não é executar as actividades e fechar as iniciativas, o nosso propósito é cumprir as metas, como tão bem se escreve aqui) — and then watching what actually happens against this predicted logic. (Moi ici: As metas associadas aos indicadores do balanced scorecard) This is the only way you will learn; the only way you will figure out whether your logic was entirely sound or flawed in some way.
.
And when I say setting out your logic, I mean actually writing it down in advance, not just thinking it through. That is important because of our human capacity for ex-post rationalizing absolutely anything and everything. If you don't write down in advance what your logic was, you will find that you will convince yourself that everything worked out the way you thought it would — and you will learn nothing."
"Strategy is part art and part science; a heuristic, not an algorithm."
"A central implication of S-D logic is that the notion of superior value cocreation replaces the more prevalent one of superior value provision as the cornerstone of business strategy. Therefore, from an S-D logic perspective, the capabilities that facilitate and enhance value cocreation processes are strategic capabilities central to an organization’s competitive advantage.
...
We interpret an S-D orientation as a cocreation capability, resulting from a firm’s individuated, relational, ethical, empowered, developmental, and concerted interaction capabilities.
...
The first premise is that market actors interact and collaborate for the capabilities of the other party that renders service, thereby making a distinction between goods and services redundant (FP1). (Moi ici: Descodificar FPx aqui) The actual service can be rendered either directly through a firm’s relieving activities or indirectly through enabling service platforms (FP3) such as goods or Internet websites. According to these
premises, a firm’s goods are valuable and relevant resources to the degree that they can be used as inputs to lever the customer’s own value creation processes and experiences.
defines all economies (FP5) but this view might be masked by service intermediaries such as goods, money, or institutions (FP2).
Service-based logic further highlights that value is not what is inherent in or added to a product, but what customers get out of a product. Accordingly, value cannot be distributed or delivered by firms (FP7). Rather, firms facilitate the actualization and determination of value that network partners derive from their experiences; this is also referred to as value-in-context (FP10). Value cocreation requires all network partners (Moi ici: O que chamo de ecossistema da procura) to interact with, and integrate, resources (FP9) to achieve mutual betterment.
...
creating value in concert with - rather than for - customers within a relational context (FP8), indicates the operant and cocreative nature of network partners (FP6) as active resources in value creation processes. Finally, a firm’s own and accessible operant resources (e.g., employee competencies, network service capabilities), rather than operand resources (e.g., goods, materials), play a central role for competitive success (FP4)."

"Companies are becoming more focused. E não esquecer que o futuro é subir na escala de valor, ou seja, serviços cada vez mais específicos)...the advantage held by companies that do only a few things in the market but do them exceptionally well. They are bringing all their products and services in line with their market strategy and core capabilities. This means fewer priorities, more longterm investments, and an emphasis on making the most of their operational, HR, IT, marketing and sales, and other resources.Functional leaders are now expected to play a stronger role at the heart of strategic decision making; they are not just operators of a service bureau, but critical enablers of the capabilities that set a particular company apart from its competitors.(Moi ici: A ligação de pesoas ou funções e estratégia ou vantagens competitivas)...Instead of balancing services among all business units equally, or striving to be “best in class” in every detail, you can focus on helping your functional organization become coherent and “fit for purpose.” The first step is to articulate your functional agenda—the priorities, roles, and activities needed to support your company’s overall strategic mission....In every successful company, the value proposition is closely linked to the company’s most critical capabilities: the things it has learned, over time, to do particularly well....Differentiating capabilities provide a company with the distinctive competitive advantage needed to outperform. (Moi ici: Aquelas que dão margens interessantes, aquelas que põem a empresa longe do granel da molhada do preço, associadas a processos nucleares)...Competitive necessities are the “table stakes” that enable a company to compete in its industry.
...They are essential to survival and success, but they can often be managed for cost and efficiency, rather than to perform at a worldclass level, or even at the same level as competitors.
.Basic business capabilities are those needed to keep the company running. These services—everything from payroll to employee benefits to basic computing needs— remain the responsibility of the functions. They are critical but non-differentiating. They should be tightly controlled for efficiency, and often automated, outsourced, or relegated to low-cost shared services, thus freeing up resources that functional leaders can redirect to differentiating capabilities. (Moi ici: Como referi no relato desta descoberta)Different companies deploy the same capabilities in different ways, depending on the strategic value proposition....As a functional leader, you must learn to balance resources among these three types of capabilities.Business capabilities are very costly to build and maintain, and (Moi ici: Segue-se o sumo do sumo) many functions have gotten used to spending more on competitive necessities and basic business capabilities than they need to. Differentiating capabilities get shortchanged as a result, and the company loses ground.Being best in class in every process or activity within a given function simply isn’t possible, no matter how professionally satisfying; no function has the funds or organizational stamina to be excellent at everything.Instead, you need a clear sense of which category each activity falls into. There must be some activities where being merely adequate is appropriate, where “good enough” is actually good enough."

"the importance of customer experience in retail. In IMS Retail University we make the case very bluntly: "Differentiate or die." If it only comes down to selling at lowest price, game over. Online and the largest retailers win the price battle, and Amazon wows consumers with both service and price. So, how do you create and sustain experience consumers will value? Retailers would do well to borrow from the playbook of Disney who understands a high quality experience is all about "theater" … and requires a blend of Stage + Actors + Script.BTW, ao ouvir "Buyology" lembrei-me logo do futuro do retalho físico e da batota, ao pensar nas armas que o retalho físico pode usar para estimular a experiência sensorial da compra: luz, toque, cheiro; som, ... só que o retalho físico normalmente prepara a experiência de compra como o Aranha relata num comentário a este postal.
...
If retail is only about selling commodities at a price, then no … retail probably does not have to become theater.
...
Today's consumers can typically find a better deal online. To survive and thrive, retail stores must create some "theater" in order to create experiences where consumers are entertained, learn something new, or find some value beyond purchasing products at lowest price.
...
Retail store staff: It is the Actors who create differentiation and value
...
it is the actors who are absolutely critical in creating the experience and the services that consumers will pay a premium for.
...
the best theater happens when staging is built for the script, and the actors are chosen for their talent to play specific roles to bring the story to life."
