Que cadeias de abastecimento para os próximos dois anos? (parte II)

"Even as factories come back online, new problems are constantly emerging. Brands are changing how they approach their supply chains in ways that will resonate long after the crisis. In many cases, flexibility is now a top priority. So is transparency, as the ability to keep tabs on where fabric and raw materials are at any given moment can now make or break a business.

Manufacturers have problems of their own, including cancelled orders from brands that had to close stores and are now stuck with warehouses full of unsold spring clothes. Tal Group, which manufactures products for brands including Michael Kors and Patagonia, expects order volumes to be down between 40 and 50 percent for the rest of the year. In April, it announced it would close operations at its two factories in Malaysia.

In the McKinsey survey, around 60 percent of respondents said they expected manufacturing clusters to develop more quickly in markets like Eastern Europe and Central America that are closer to customers in the US and Western Europe.

É certo mas o movimento vai-se reforçar ou intensificar por questões como a prevenção concentração (risco geográfico) e reforço de capacidades estratégicas nacionais, vide p.e. https://www.france24.com/en/20200514-covid-19-forces-france-to-look-at-relocating-its-pharmaceutical-industry.

Em bom rigor, as novas formas de produção já tinham como efeito reduzir as cadeias logísticas dos produtos e serviços, basta pensar no caso das impressora 3D que estiveram a produzir viseiras em Portugal. E o mesmo se passa com o "o ficheiro informático do desenho" que a impressora utiliza. Em ambos os casos deixou-se de percorrer a cadeia logística típica de uma economia industrial, para uma cadeia mais curta pós-industrial.

Parece seguro afirmar que irão existir grandes mutações até porque existe espaço para ainda maiores reduções na cadeia. Se pensarmos no exemplo acima, a redução óbvia seria o utilizador produzir a sua própria viseira, o que ainda não aconteceu por ausência de disseminação da impressoras 3d na sociedade (preço e facilidade de utilização).
