"Essentially, a strategy at a particular time t + 1 is a function of the strategy process at a prior time t. It is recursive because the strategy at a later time is a function of the strategy which has been executed at an earlier time, and it is nondeterministic because organizational decisions made at time t (i.e. the time of the exercise of choice) determine the scope of choices at a future time and result in path dependencies (Note: a path dependency is the fact that organizational phenomena once begun are limited by and determined by prior phenomena that shape thinking and decisions that commit resources, both human and financial.
