No JdN de hoje num texto assinado por Luís Todo Bom, "A competitividade da Europa", sublinhei:

"Na minha visão, a partir do relacionamento que mantenho com o mundo empresarial, a entidade responsável máxima por esta perda de competitividade é a Comissão Europeia. Constituída, não só ao nível dos comissários, mas também, e sobretudo, ao nível dos dirigentes intermédios dos vários departamentos, por quadros ligados aos vários partidos políticos, sem qualquer experiência e sensibilidade empresarial, vão produzindo legislação abundante, que condiciona a capacidade das empresas europeias de competirem nos mercados globais."

Interessante, no livro "Kaput - The End of the German Miracle" de Wolfgang Munchau ele queixa-se do contrário:

"The domestic-policy counterpart to neo-mercantilism is corporatism. For a country to pursue mercantilist policies, it needs to work hand in hand with the corporate sector. For decades, governments of the left and right subordinated national politics in the interest of specific champion industries. The CEOs of those chosen industries in turn had special access to government - unlike Karl Albrecht, the entrepreneurial anti-hero of my home town. It felt at times as though the car industry chiefs had their own private keys to the chancellery in Berlin.

This is why errors of judgement in the corporate sector get amplified. Everybody hangs together. Everybody believes in the old industrial model.

This is why Germany's economic problems are a 'structural slump', an expression invented by the American economist Edmund Phelps. The structure part in this slump relates to the economic model which Germany has clung on to for far too long. The cycle of good times and bad will repeat, but the structural slump will persist - unless you change the model. And change would have to begin with an economic narrative that is not reduced to competitiveness."

No final de um jogo de futebol, muitas vezes o treinador da equipa derrotada queixa-se que perdeu por causa do árbitro... às vezes a equipa até devia ter sido expulsa.
