Curiosidade do dia

"Social media was a big inroad for crowdsourcing truck design at Caterpillar Inc., which in 2011 launched a website that asked potential buyers to weigh in on features they wanted to see in a new truck the company was designing. Kevin Espinosa, Caterpillar’s social media manager for global marketing services, said this helped the company get a handle on “what customers wanted to see in the new product.”
.
Caterpillar’s crowdsourcing effort also helped the company offload production costs it would normally have spent on guessing what customers wanted. This represents a shift away from classic closed corporate development, according to entrepreneur Peter Diamandis, who founded the X Prize Foundation for crowdsourcing technology competitions. He said companies are increasingly co-creating their content, products services with their customers. “Their crowd — their customer base — becomes their experts, becomes their designers, becomes their thought leaders,” Mr. Diamandis said in a recent interview."
