Curiosidade do dia

"Japanese people are known for following rules diligently and obeying the social and legal norms. The same characteristics were on display by the locals when the toll system crashed in the country in April this year. As the system malfunctioned on some of the busiest roads, the vehicles were allowed to pass freely through the toll gates, with users urged to pay the fee later online. While most people would have gladly taken the free ride, 24,000 people paid the money later, highlighting the impeccable sense of civic duty of Japanese people."

"All big UK companies will be forced to report on how long they take to pay suppliers, as ministers seek to crack down on late payments.

Jonathan Reynolds, business secretary, is expected to publish a small business strategy in August that will lay out several measures designed to boost small and medium-sized enterprises, according to people familiar with the matter. The measures will include making companies with more than 250 employees disclose their payment performance in annual reports and giving audit committees greater responsibilities to make sure management addresses the subject. "The idea is that audit committees will put more pressure on executive teams and the rest of the boards to do the right thing. Because they are nonexecutives, they can take a more independent approach to best practice," said one person familiar with the plans.

This month the government laid draft secondary legislation in parliament that would force large companies to include information in their annual reports on how long it takes to pay suppliers."
