Curiosidade do dia

"In 1991, the average American bought 34 items of clothing each year. By 2007, they were buying 67 items every year. That’s a lot of shirts, skirts, blouses, trousers, pants and socks too. It means Americans buy a new piece of clothing every four to five days. They are also buying a lot more of a lot more things.
.
In 1994, they bought 1.4 billion bath towels each year. They now buy two billion. That is more than three new bath towels a year. What on earth are they doing with them all? In 1995, they bought 188 million toasters and toaster-like devices – like toasted sandwich makers – each year. Now they buy 279 million. What are they doing with them? Probably not much, apart from storing them. Surveys suggest that the toasted sandwich maker is one of the kitchen gadgets people buy but don’t use.
.
The British are similar. The amount the average Briton spent on clothing almost doubled between 1990 and 2004. The average British woman now buys 58 items of clothing each year. There are twice as many things in her wardrobe today than there were in 1980, and there are 22 things in there she has never worn."
